One of the biggest challenges we faced while making canvis.app was coming up with a single layout that would work for any type of project, on any device, and be understandable for even the most technologically inexperienced users.

We decided to stick with a simple but effective set of structured pages. Most people are familiar with the concept of "pages" on their phone or laptop, as they are a common format for customer feedback forms, surveys, sign ups, and web store checkouts. Pages are great because they work on all screen sizes, and allow you to guide your contributors through the process, step by step.

Page Templates

At the moment, a project can select from 5 page templates. Each page template serves a different purpose. Every page allows you to customize the content using simple text markdown syntax. Except for the landing page, you can add pages in whatever order you like.

Landing Page

The landing page is where you can place a title, description, and images. This content is very important for first time visitors, as well as search engines. The landing page also serves as a gateway where you can prompt users to log in, depending on your project settings.

• Every project has a landing page as the first page.
• This page can not be deleted, nor replicated.
• The landing page allows you to upload an optional logo image, and banner photo. You can do this from the Project Settings menu.

Collaborative Mapping Page

The collaborative mapping page combines the power of survey forms with the power of maps! Users can explore the map, and contribute if they wish.

• Your project can have multiple collaborative mapping pages.

• A mapping page can have up to 6 collaborative mapping layers. If you need more, split them between multiple mapping pages.

• Shows a helpful "list data" button to sort contributions by layer and by date.

Content Page

Content pages are a simple place to add additional survey forms, pictures, and formatted text.

Just like above, but with a web map. You can control the web map extend and zoom level, but not add any collaborative data.

Conclusion Page

The conclusion page is a simple space to display your logo again, and thank your users for their participation. We recommend sharing ways for your users to stay connected, follow up, and see the impact of their contributions.
